Should We Plan?

What is faith?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

~ Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

We hope and plan; but He sets the pace:

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” ~ Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)

Why? Because He knows the way. He knows what’s best; and already holds the blueprint.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

So Why do we Plan and still Worry?:

Do Not Be Anxious

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life,

Pray and submit your challenges over to God.

what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Walk by faith. God will provide. Just get up and work. He’ll take care of the rest.

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

See all creations living at their God given capacity and ability still receive all that they need from the Lord; so trust that He hasn’t forgotten about you. We were created in His image.

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

It has been said that anxiety is like a sickness to the body. Stop killing yourself on purpose.

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin,  yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Fashion and fitness fads will come and go. Society’s idea of beauty will fade and change, but the Lord and His splendor and glory will remain. So why worry about fleeting fame. He has a garment for His children that will last forever.

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

He will not forsake His righteous ones. He knows our needs and is faithful to supply them.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

~ Matthew 6:25-34 (ESV)

So back to my original question; should we plan? No, we should seek God for His plan and then walk by faith in what He has promised.

Until next time…

Write from the Heart,
