HAPPY LABOR DAY

WITH EVERYTHING

Happy Labor Day blessed child of the Most High God! At times it can seem as though we toil day in and day out in our respective careers to no avail, like we’re on an endless hamster wheel to nowhere. We find ourselves, counting the seconds, minutes, and hours on the clock during the workday, daydreaming about the weekend, Thanking God for Friday, and the list goes on. God promises that, even if there may be days we loathe our jobs, career choices, or even our leadership and those in authority over us or even feel insignificant and doubt our value and worth, our labor is not in vain.

All work is meaningful in the eyes of God. He even challenges us to maintain the mindset that we are working as if we are working unto Him and not human masters.

(Colossians 3:23-24 NIV)

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

With everything in us; our talents, skills, intellect and creativity, every idea, thought, and word of our mouths, we are to use them for God’s purpose; to demonstrate His love to those around us everyday.

(1 Peter 4:10 NIV)
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

He is the reason we are here and have the ability to do what we do. A person doesn’t have to be a pastor or minister to work unto God in their daily workplace or home life. Every career, job, and task big and small is meaningful to God. He designed us all with one goal in mind, to communicate His love to others:

(2 Corinthians 5:18-20 The Message)
Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don’t look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We’re Christ’s representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God’s work of making things right between them. We’re speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he’s already a friend with you.

REWARD OF REST

Verily, our labor here on earth is not always easy to bear at times. We are human and God knows and understands what we face day in and day out. Therefore, as we enjoy this day of rest from our earthly jobs and daily toils, let us also remember the eternal reward God promises us that was given in His son Jesus Christ. The promise of rest. While it is important to take time to rest here on earth in our earthly bodies, through Jesus, we receive an eternal rest for our souls when we place all of our trust and worries on Him.

(Matthew 11:28-30 NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

IT IS WELL

Through it all, when we keep our eyes on Him and His purpose for our lives, our labor here on earth becomes easier to bear. The struggles we face day to day at school, home, or work stress us less and we find a peace that is not found in earthly things or the tangible fruits of our labor. God’s promise of peace and rest for our lives is eminent. God makes no mistakes, despite how we may at times doubt our life and career choices and the burdens they tend to bring. With everything, burdens and blessings, they all come with a meaningful purpose, a purpose God planned out before he ever formed you. When we hold fast to this promise my friends, we can rest on this day and everyday and say ‘it well with my soul’.

I pray that the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds until the day Christ Jesus returns. #WithEverything

In His Love,
